But don’t look too far afield to find them. This new collective, Queen Street Art Studio, is right downstairs from Watson Gallery, in a cool basement location!
Going forward, we will be partnering with Queen Street Art Studio, who will be representing some of our favourite street art, pop art and collage artists, as well as some incredible up and coming artists working in a variety of art and sculpture styles.
We’re very excited to see this new centre for street art and related genres, which we hope will usher in a new appreciation for contemporary and urban art in Edinburgh.
Take a look at their website to find out more...
Edinburgh has its own thriving street art scene, with many spots in and around the city known as hubs for creative expression that can be shared with all passers-by. Pedestrianised railway tunnels, overpasses, and park walkways are frequently transformed into explosions of colour and imagery…
Where we have often been found lacking, however, is in a space that will allow up and coming street artists to turn their passion into the success they deserve.
Watson has been privileged to bring the artwork of Edinburgh-based street artist Sleek to our visitors and collectors, and we have seen this young artist grow hugely in popularity since we first opened two and a half years ago.
Sleek was soon joined by other artists who feature a more contemporary, urban or pop-art edge, such as Michiel Folkers, Wendy Helliwell, and ReRun. The excitement for these artists showed us clearly that this style of art deserved far more attention.
Which is why we’re bidding a fond farewell to some of our artists, who are joining a brand street art collective…
