Born in 1952 in Nairobi, Kenya, Ernesto came to the UK in 1972, a refugee of Idi Amin's Ugandan regime.
Ernesto went on to train at the Glasgow school of art. He set up his own studio in 1998, and now creates art full time.
In his recent series, Ernesto has been focused on returning to the language of Colour Field: looking at the immediacy versus the subtlety of colour, its ability to express emotions and evoke response.
He has used his explorations of colour and light to achieve balance, health and happiness in his own life. He also works with people suffering from dementia and mental health issues, and teaches a variety of art therapy techniques.
Ernesto currently lectures at Reid Kerr College, Paisley, Glasgow. His work is in private collections across the world including Keyna, Uganda, UK (Scotland, England and Wales), USA, Canada, St Andrews College Glasgow.
