Ostinelli and Priest are the two newest artists to join Watson, and we're very excited to welcome their superbly quirky animal sculptures to the gallery.
Gaynor Ostinelli and Paul Priest have been working together for a number of years, combining their talents in sculpture and painting to create unique and enchanting artworks. Their work is a fusion of their individual abilities, relying on the understanding and harmony between the two artists.
This unusual work practise has resulted in some truly unusual artworks, and we're looking forward to showing them off to our visitors. We were sent some short video clips of two of the artworks as they were completed — complete with a little artist commentary — that were too fun not to share.
Ostinelli and Priest have gained worldwide recognition since they began creating and exhibiting their work together. Their sculptures have been shown in the USA, Brazil, France, Holland, Denmark, China, South Africa and New Zealand.
Each piece has its own personality, mood and a dash of humour from its makers. The different types and breeds of animal (including a few mythological beings... see the minotaur below) come to life with always-expressive faces, stances and colouring.
